Brown Rice..in a rice cooker

I attempted to cook brown rice in my rice cooker and it was an epic fail! It was still hard and uncooked. I found a simple recipe on wikihow which called for 1 cup of rice to 2 1/2 cups of water or broth. I followed the instructions and the rice was still uncooked so I added more water.. about 1/2 a cup and it still was uncooked. I normally buy the boil in a bag brown rice due to this! I will try it again with another recipe and see. Practice makes perfect!! How do you cook your brown rice? Tips please!
